Xarelto Casting

April 28, 2011

I love castings. I love coordinating castings (love talent agents). I love shooting castings. I love reviewing castings. I love it. Can you tell? For a tiny morsel of time, you have the opportunity to meet and interact with hundreds of human beings that intentionally pause, say hello, and exchange a real purity of themselves on camera. It’s a beautiful thing. We shot the casting. Produced by A76 Productions. Shot by Dustin Cohen. Agency, JWT.

Here are a few of the great talent we saw. And if you like any of these folks and want to book them for your next shoot, I’ll get you in touch with their agents.

University of Phoenix Shoot with Jessica Antola

April 22, 2011

I had the fine privilege of working with the incredibly talented Jessica Antola and the University of Phoenix for a whirlwind production on the West Coast. We began in Las Vegas, skipped up to Salt Lake City, and finished in San Francisco. From the creative minds of Periera O’Dell in San Francisco stemmed the concept of celebrating successful female alums of the University of Phoenix and celebrating their accomplishments in their respective fields.

Here are a few behind the scene shots:

Arden Fair shoot with Laura Crosta in Sacramento, CA

February 10, 2011

2011 started off full speed with a quick shoot in Sacramento with Laura Crosta for Arden Fair mall. We spent a day casting for 12 (!) talent in San Francisco, then headed up to Sacramento for the shoot. We joined forces with Wayfinder SF, CEO Louis Briones, Art Director, Angela Dunkle, and Art Producer, Cameron Barnum, and an incredible crew to capture 18 shots (!) throughout the day.

As someone who rarely finds herself at a mall, the opportunity to spend two days inside Arden Fair, interacting with retailers and members of the Sacramento community, was a blast.

With 12 talent, and a shot list resembling a scavenger hunt map, every member of the crew had a big responsibility to execute their roles and lend an extra hand where needed. A big thank you to everyone, especially prop & wardrobe stylist Shannon Amos, and her assistant Jill McCall, & hair & makeup artist Renee Rael, and her assistant Rebecca Butz, for rolling up their sleeves and hustling through the day to keep us all on time. These ladies were incredible!

This business is a lot of work and a lot of fun. It’s often the moments in between, and the people and places we meet that add to the joy of hard work. Hip Hop Karaoke at the Sacramento Red Lion on Wednesday nights, is definitely one of those moments!

Happy 2011!

Bing IS Beautiful

September 22, 2010

Hello Cyberjunkies! Did you know Bing is Google’s number 1 competitor these days? Beleive it or not, there is a big fish in the search engine pool making huge waves. And the fish, its name is Bing.

Early this month I had the great priviledge of working with the creative team at JWT, and photographer Chris Cassidy, on two upcoming Bing commercials. We shot the still footage to be used in a broadcast commercial so we gained the rush of working with SAG talent, SAG contracts, SAG paperwork, SAG pay scales, SAG union reps, SAG Station 12s, SAG Taft-Hartley’s, SAG SAG SAG. I’m now somewhat skilled in most things SAG, so for all my fellow producers out there who find themselves working with union talent, call me, email me, find me. I’m your gal.

Our first shoot was at The Bell House in Gowanus, Brooklyn, where we had 40 talent screaming to old Beastie Boys and ACDC (per the clients recommended playlist).

Something like this, multiplied by 40.

And the second, at Bills Bar & Burger in the Meatpacking District, where we “ate” 35 plates of their signature chili cheese fries.

As soon as the commercial airs, I’ll post pictures. And keep a close eye out for yours truly making a special appearance in the “Rock Out” commercial. In the interim, have a laugh at some of the previous Bing commercials.

AVG Software and Sheri Giblin, Back in the Bay

September 19, 2010

Does everyone know Sheri Giblin? If you don’t you should. And if you do, lucky you.

Not only is Sheri an incredibly talented photographer (she has a an entire bookcase full of books published with her work to prove it), but she is a lovely, free-spirited, joyful San Franciscan Artist. I’m biased, for sure. As a former San Franciscan myself – the city, the neighborhood, and the residents get the spare bedroom in my heart.

When the opportunity to produce on location in Marin county with Sheri for our client AVG Software came about, it was the perfect excuse for a trip back to my old stomping grounds.

We were shooting lifestyle images of two families interacting with each other while on the computer. Thanks to Jim Baldwin for his location connections, and the creative prop styling from Leigh Noe, we were able to dress various rooms in the house to resemble two separate homes. Two birds with one stone. Two families with one home. Done.

We wrapped the shoot and celebrated the success of the day in true SF fashion – a dinner at Emmy’s Spaghetti Shack. To.Die.For.

Are you kidding me!?

A huge BRAVO to Leigh Noe for her incredible work, and a big HURRAH to Sheri & her team for turning out incredible photos.

And many thanks to all my friends and colleagues in SF for making this production a success! (Think Whitney’s subaru, Grivas’ supplies, Quetal’s production office)

As they say in SF,

mad love

Summer time in the city and the livin is ….

August 25, 2010

We wrapped summer 2010 with an exciting shoot for Jené DeSpain’s new fall collection Black Honey. We stayed close to home dashing across Brooklyn rooftops and wandering into the industrial stretches of Greenpoint. Jené is an incredible jewelry designer, photographer, and an expert in all things New York, Fashion, and Style. Catch her while you can, as this talented lady is on the RISE!

La La Los Angeles 2010

July 6, 2010

Hi Hi Hi,

I’m just back from a few weeks in lovely Los Angeles. I had such an amazing trip working quite a bit, catching up with old friends, and networking with the new. A few things to note:

1. I fell in love with KCRW Morning Becomes Eclectic, and Jason Bentley.

2. Met up with an old friend from way back in the Lakewood, Colorado sleep-over days, Josh Forbes. He had just finished directing Alexandra Burke’s latest music video. He’s talented, hillarious, and all around good people. If you don’t already know him, you soon will.

3. The Devote Campaign is continuing at full speed ahead! We had an amazing and gut wrenchingly funny interview with the comedic duo Frangela. If you are not in LA, check out their weekly podcasts for your share of intelligent wit. Following which, we had meetings with LA producer friends, and was offered the  potential to pitch our trailer to HBO as a recurring series!

4. Koreatown – my friends Brynn & Lisa live in an enormous top floor 5 bedroom apartment smack in the middle of Koreatown. It’s gorgeous. The problem is the neighbors, and the company they keep. Save for the cameras, Brynn & Lisa had an afternoon only seen on an episode of COPS, chasing down two young ladies who tried to break into their laundry room to avoid getting swooped up by the police. I’m so proud of my crime fighting friends!

5. Ate Mexican food 3x day. And now. I’m done.

6. Spent 3 weeks working with Kaplan Thaler & Cynthia Cohen for a their pharmecutical client Girosa. 13 days, in 13 different locations. Easy right? Right.

Here are a few memorable moments from the shoot.
